Learning Unlimited Gives Thanks
Groups of people at tables making turkey crafts for Thanksgiving
So much to be thankful for! This month’s Learning Unlimited get together was a chance for everyone to reflect on thankfulness and share their thoughts on family traditions and holiday memories. It was also a time for fun: making Thanksgiving crafts with friends and enjoying some treats!

Friends created colorful turkey wreaths out of paper plates and decorated them with markers and popsicle sticks. They filled clear plastic gloves with popcorn and little crackers, making edible turkey tail snacks. The grand finale was dipping Rice Krispie treats in chocolate, drawing turkey faces on them with frosting and then cheerfully devouring the hapless birds. All good fun in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Learning Unlimited, a free 10-week program for adults with disabilities, provides an opportunity for group members to get together to work on social, leisure and independent living skills. It is offered in spring and fall sessions through a grant from OPWDD (Organization for People with Developmental Disabilities). The grant is run through Monroe #1 BOCES; Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Department for Exceptional Children manages the program for residents on the west side of Rochester. It is free for adults who live at home and qualify for OPWDD services.

Having fun at Learning Unlimited!Registration for the Spring 2023 program will begin in February. Questions? Please reach out to: Kimberly Stephenson- [email protected] or Andrew Fowler - [email protected]
