SkillsUSA Concludes Successful Community Service Project
Breast Cancer Coalition staff accept a check from SkillsUSA officers.
Our SkillsUSA chapter presented a check for $1,000 to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, the result of a successful fundraiser that ran through October.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the SkillsUSA students developed several activities. They sold pink wristbands in each classroom. These were so popular that they sold out. Students decorated jars for the cause and placed them in each classroom to collect cash donations. They also organized a school-wide outdoor breast cancer awareness walk for the entire student body. The walk took participants past dozens of pink ribbon theme pumpkins, which SkillsUSA members decorated in advance at a team building event.

The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (BCC) exists to cultivate community among those touched by breast or gynecologic cancer; to empower informed decision-making through education, support and advocacy; and to advance research in our region with the goal of eradicating breast cancer.

Three SkillsUSA officers delivered the donation in person. From left to right are BCC Program Assistant Ali Dennison, SkillsUSA PM President Kaylin Woodin, SkillsUSA PM class Officer at Large Sarah Kelly, SkillsUSA PM Treasurer Ryan Frank, and BCC Social Events Coordinator Carly Euler.
